Blogmas Day 24: Christmas Eve Activities

Oh my gosh I can’t believe Christmas is tomorrow! This year and December alone have flown by!

My family and I don’t do all that much on Christmas eve expect spend time together and go to one of the Christmas Eve services we have at church. Like I talked about in our family traditions we do watch the Grinch on Christmas eve. We usually open our one gift and then change into some comfy pajamas and put on the Grinch. I usually make hot chocolate for everyone and we have a fun festive treat as well. Like gingerbread cookies or fudge.

Here is my favorite recipe to use for fudge:

Blogmas Day 23: Present Wrapping Ideas

Hey! Do you like wrapping presents? I do. I tell people all the time when I grow up I’m going to be a professional present wrapper. It’s something fun to do for me and bring out my creative side. Now put into mind I do put a lot of time into decorating the presents and yes I do know people are going to rip the paper off to get to the present inside and yes I do cry a little inside when they do L

I have a whole pinterest board here all about different fun and creative ways to wrap and decorate your presents. The last two years I have put a lot of effort into my friend Cassie’s presents because I truthfully know she will appreciate the effort I put in for the gifts.

Here are some of my go to items for wrapping gifts:

  1. Solid colored paper – I love brown craft paper, which I usually buy a roll or two from the dollar store. It is also called packing paper I believe but any other solid colored paper like red, green, blue, black can also be a fun way to wrap them as well
  2. Ribbon – if you are using solid paper this would be a fun time to use a decorate ribbon and just wrap it around in a cross around the gift to add a simple touch. If you are using decorative paper then I suggest using a solid colored ribbon if you plan on using ribbon
  3. Cutouts – I love holiday themed cutouts like bells, Santa, or a reindeer instead of a bow because it is another touch you usually don’t see
  4. Confetti – like glitter I am not a big fan of confetti but it is something fun to add inside of a box to add a little fun touch or flavor to the gift.
  5. Washi tape – this is something easy to use to add just little things to solid colored paper. I made a tree on a present last year out of washi tape and it was so much fun!

What is your opinion on the way people decorate their gifts? I think this year I am going to use black paper and neon colored accessories!

Blogmas Day 22: Ugly Christmas Sweaters

Who doesn’t love an ugly Christmas sweater? I absolutely love sweaters and ugly Christmas sweaters are so much fun!

This is something you can make a party out of and see what other people can do and have competitions and win prizes! I am a person who really doesn’t care about going out into public wearing some awful looking sweater and have fun about it! I love my style and love to show off different things. I know a lot of people who wouldn’t do this but to me it is all just fun and games. Who cares what other people think? What are the chances you will run into them again?

One fun thing about ugly Christmas sweaters is they are very easily a DIY project. I made one last year for a work competition. Unfortunately I didn’t win but it was so much fun to make, it weighed a ton but it was fun to do!

Now if you are looking to buy one and not make one I have some seen some really cool ones that light up at both Target and Wal-Mart so check those out if you are interested.

What is your opinion on ugly Christmas sweaters? Would you wear one out in public or only at a party?

Blogmas Day 21: Christmas Traditions

Hey! I know everyone has traditions and a lot of those are at Christmas my family has a couple and I thought I would tell you them now!

  1. Our number one tradition and this is something we do absolutely every year is watching the Grinch on Christmas Eve. Growing up it was always the cartoon but then when the Jim Carey version came out we switched to that and it is something we look forward to every year!
  2. Gingerbread houses – This is a new one in the past couple of years but we love to each get one (my mom, sister and I) and kind of have a competition on who makes their house the best. I put way to much effort into mine and usually end up breaking it because I put to much stuff on it
  3. My favorite tradition is something my sister and I do. We have always opened up our gifts from each other on Christmas eve. I think this year we are just going to open one and then the rest on Christmas but growing up our mom would take one of us out to go shopping and my grandma would take the other and then we would open them on Christmas

Now here are some more traditions I know of and my family doesn’t always do them but I know a lot of people do

  1. Christmas Caroling – now as a family, my family can’t sing but if you join in with people who can it is a lot of fun
  2. Go look at Christmas lights – we do this a lot but I wish we would do it more. We look at the ones in our neighbor hood but we don’t adventure to other neighborhoods

What are some of your favorite Christmas traditions? Whether it is something you do yourself or with your family?

Blogmas Day 20: Stocking Stuff Ideas

Now this is always the last thing people think of but this is something you can do all year and that is finding things to stuff in your family’s stockings!

Here is a list of some of my favorite things to put in stockings:

  1. Candy – you can’t go wrong putting in some of your family’s favorite candies in the stocking. A nice treat to start out the day!
  2. Gift cards – this is usually where my mom will put whatever gift cards she has gotten us for Christmas. It’s less cards and less likely to lose them!
  3. A fun gag gift – my mom likes to get us something random. Last year we got a calculator that looked like a piano and to be honest I still use it J
  4. Socks – it is always nice to get a new pair of socks. My mom will usually get us fuzzy socks, which I love to wear to bed during the winter to keep my feet warm.
  5. A Movie or small video game – my mom always try and stuff something like this in our stockings and it’s always the first thing we see. This would be fun to display a new movie or game your family has been wanting!

I absolutely love all the things you can put into a stocking. What are some of your favorite things to put inside the stocking?

Blogmas Day 19: Christmas Craft Ideas

For me Christmas is my favorite time to do crafts. I believe myself to be a very crafty person and the holidays just bring out my crafty side. I love a good homemade Christmas gift.

This year so far my favorite thing to do is make a wreath. I have made several already and have a few more lined up to make! They are actually quite easy to make which shocked me a little but you have to be careful because it can get very expensive. But if you want something personal and something you made that not only can be used during the holidays but all year long this is a good suggestion

Another one of my favorite things to do is using the kids handprints or footprints. You can get air-dry clay from the store that you can use to make an ornament for a family member and use the handprint or footprint of your children. This is a great first Christmas display as well!

I work at a day care so we spend most of December talking about all of the different holidays around the world and we make a lot of crafts as well. You can’t go wrong with glitter. As I type this I remember clear as day how much I hate glitter but you do what you gotta do to get the right craft done! Or maybe not it’s your choice. We have the kids make a lot of cards for their parents as well as different charities and for kids at the hospital as well. It is a personal gift that they did themselves.

Being crafty is fun to me and Pinterest is a good place to start. There are so many ideas on there and people add more and more each day. I get a lot of my ideas for you all from pinterest or personal experience so check it out and let me know what you want to try this year!

What is your favorite craft to do?

Blogmas Day 18: Work Christmas Party Ideas

I know the work place can be stressful but the holiday times is a great time to get the whole team involved and have some fun! (All of the ideas were found on pinterest)

One fun one I saw while looking around was a minute to win it Christmas party. This was one of my favorite shows to watch and I love watching the re-runs on the game show network and I didn’t know how easy it was to change some of the games into Christmas themed games. Make sure you check this out on pinterest because not only would this be a fun idea for work this would also be a fun idea if you have a birthday around Christmas and want to make it both a Christmas and birthday party!

Another fun idea would be a theme based off a movie like Grinch or Elf. There are so many fun ideas to use for decorating. Looking on pinterest I found a fun recipe for Grinch popcorn as well as Grinch punch. If you have the time there are always some other fun snacks and crafts you can change around to match the theme of your party. Make a cup cake and use green frosting and top it with a fondant Santa hat or heart will make it a fun Grinch twist. Using all yellow and green decorations can make it a fun elf themed party. Don’t forget the spaghetti!

Have some fun activities yin your lounge or lobby to lead up to the party as well. Guess how many M&Ms and whoever is closer gets the jar. Some fun name that song or finish the lyrics Christmas Carols edition is fun. A word search or cross word can easily be made on Google as well. Have fun with your co-workers take the stress away because the holidays are a stressful time but who wants to be stressed during the holidays? Not me!

Now you can’t go wrong with an Ugly Christmas Sweater or a Pajama party for the holidays either but why not spice it up and do something different for the holidays!

If you could plan a Christmas work party what theme would you use?
