Once Upon A Time: S2

So last weekend I finished re-watching season 1 of Once Upon a Time and this weekend I watched season 2 for the first time and let me tell you I am falling in love with this show!

This season started off exactly where season 1 ended. All of the fairy tale creatures remember who they are and they are trying to figure out how exactly to get back to the enchanted forest. They are also trying to test how they can cross the town line and not forget who they are.

The synopsis of season two is as follows:

Despite Emma having broken the curse, the characters are not returned to the fairy tale world, and must deal with their own dual identities. With the introduction of magic into Storybrooke by Mr. Gold, the fates of the two worlds become intertwined, and new threats emerge in the form of Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue), Regina’s mother Cora (Barbara Hershey), also known as the Queen of Hearts, and sinister operatives from our world with an agenda to destroy magic.

We were introduced to even more characters then we were in the last season. Some you love and some you love to hate. We were introduced to Neal who at first I wasn’t the biggest fan of but after you figure out who he is and why he did what he did you learn to love him, I did.  Neal is a character who not only grew from his mistakes but helped others as well which was really cool to see. I’m still trying to figure out how Neal remember who he was even though he wasn’t in Storybrooke. Maybe i’ll figure out in another season.

Neal in the Enchanted Forest was Baelfire who is Rumplestiltskin’s son and SPOILER:
Henry’s father. Neal/Baelfire is one of the characters you see a lot in the Enchanted Forest
but you also see that he visited Neverland as well. Neal even makes the comment that if he hadn’t made a stop somewhere else before coming to Present Day time he would have been at least 100 years old before Emma saw him again. I didn’t know what he was talking about but as you watch the show you see that he was in Neverland before he ended up in Present Day time. Through Neal/Baelfire we meet the Darlings from the Peter Pan story and see that they brought him in because he was living on the streets trying to find food.

The one change they made about the Peter Pan story is that the shadow was the only thing coming to visit The Darlings and he was evil. The shadow took Wendy one night but returned her the next morning. Except it was one night for Baelfire and the Darlings but for Wendy it was much longer in Neverland time. Anyway back to what I was talking about in the story Wendy comes back because the shadow didn’t want a girl he wanted a boy so he was going to return to get one of her brothers but instead Baelfire scarifies himself to save them.

We were introduced to two new villains, one that we are meeting again and another one we are getting introduced to for the first time. The first one I am talking about is Cora, The Queen of Hearts and also Regina’s mother. She wants to take control of all of the magic in Storybrooke and is getting help from the one and only Captain Hook.

Captain Hook is introduced in the fourth episode of this season and is a regular cast member through out the rest of the series. Hook is played very well and I love the way they brought his character to life and the story line of him as well. One of my favorite things that I like about this show is how it goes back and forth between the characters now and in the past as well as meeting characters that are only in the Enchanted Forest/Neverland and have no present day character.

Two other characters we meet several times through out the show is Aurora and Mulan who in the Enchanted Forest are friends, which brought the two stories together in a very interesting way. At first I was not quite sure how this was going to work, how they were going to be able to combine the story and I still am not the biggest fan of this but it does work well for the story line of the show.

At the end of the season we see good and evil coming together to save the one they all care for. We are also headed to Neverland at the end of the season and I can’t wait to see what comes of this and the story line of Peter Pan!
